Yep thats one way to deal with it. But i have Shuttle case. 1x pci and 1x
agp and the agp slot is on the outer side of the motherboard.
Because of that, Zalman heatpipe doesnt fit in it. :/

Argh! Fair enough then.

There's always the Sapphire "Ultimate" range.. but I think they use the
same thing....

I have just got a Sapphire 9800 non pro. It looks exactly like the
reference ATI 9800 card. The fan is pretty quiet, certainly less than
the case fans/CPU fan.

I'd like to get this card to replace my GeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB. I have an
AthlonXP 2100+ rig.. will I see any marked increase in performance? I'm
generally running games at 1024x768x432 (notably UT2003).

The Firing Squad review shows a nice comparison with the other (lower-end)
Radeon cards, but I've not seen any reviews that show a direct comparison
with the GeForce 4 Ti4600. I guess I can compare the lower end card scores
from the Firing Squad review to other reviews with the Ti4600.. :-)

Thanks JK. I think I'll take the plunge and go for the upgrade. My frame
rates in UT 2003 (1024x768x32, everything on highest setting, no AA,
no AF) fluctuates from around 60 fps to abut 20 fps when the action
hots up. Would be interesting to see if the 9800 non pro will help in this
respect.. :-)

Don't worry. It will :) My GF3 Ti200 ran UT2003, like butter. But, my
card was my bottleneck after upping my processor and memory to a P2.4C and
DDR400 >:)

JK is right, about the visual quality. I've got FSAA and Anisiotropic
Filtering maxed out, on my 9700np, and everything I throw at it is smooth
and much nicer looking. Did get 'a little' chop, in Postal2, while blowing
up about 30 different people (with the rocket launcher) and having about 20
people attacking me at the same time...guess that's a hint that I need to up
my memory to 1GB :)
