I have heard of problems tuning PAL TV with this card, and
directx 9.0b

Does anyone know
a)if this is true
b) is there a work around
c) is the directx component (KTVTUN.AX, I believe) due to
be fixed to remove this problem.

Any information will be welcomed.

I havent heard of any issues and browsing the ATI site didnt yield any good
information. How did you determine that the .ax file listed below was the
problem file?

There were a few issues with PAL. Google the ati group for
more precise information.

In an australian PC mag(??which), an article describes a
failure in tuning PAL TV, which via DrWatson was ascribed
to a failure in KSTVTUN.AX (I think). The problem was said
to arise from DirectX 9.0b, and that the 9.0a version
worked OK.
The solution was to get the old (9.0a) files, and replace
them in a whole raft of folders, and also unpack some
archive file, of humungous size, replace and recompress.

The problems I have with this are:
a) I haven't got the version 9.0a file.
b) I haven't got the tool to decompress the archive (and
can't remember which it was).
c) I would have expected the card manufacturer or MS or
both to have at least noticed the problem (assuming its
not the figment of some journalist's late night
imagination). PAL is used in Europe as well as Australia,
so there is a market.

As you can imagine, I'm reluctant to shell out $AU600
until the issue is cleared up.

Thanks for your response.
