I bought Saphire 9500 L shaped 256bit mem (infineon 3.3). the guy told me
that he installed some omega drivers and the card workd without artifacts.
but when i put it in my computer (Abit kr7a, 512mb, 2xmaxtor 40gb raid0, sb
live) i get artifacts (green chess board only on a few parts of the desktop
and arround the fonts) imedietly after loading into windows. i tryed the
newest omega drivers and drivers from
http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/download.php, but it is always the same. i
heard that some people was able to get rid of artifacts with some aditional
programs or by disabling some options. please help. thanks.

I have a bridge I would like to sell, it also has no artifacts to speak of. Had he SHOWN you there were none(artifacts in (X)
game), then you would have made a smart decision.

Those are TYPICAL things you will experience when the card is over driven and / or heat is becoming an issue. Too bad (if the cards
wrecked) as it was a decent card when left alone.

BAH, the card will be fine, it's just telling you that your overclocking it
too much. Try cooling your ram and your GPU with something better then
stock. You can add more voltage with better cooling.

but i didn't overclock, only opened other 4 pipelines. when the card is on
default (4 pipelines) everything is ok. how much can it be overclocked. is
there some other tools that i can try. i think that i heard something about
disabling hyper z or something like that, i'm not shure.
P.S. what exacly is hyper z. is it important for performance or only for
picture quality.
thanks.

i forget to ask. what about raising the agp volts. would that help. how
riski it is. is it even possible on my motherboard (Abit KR7A-RAID, KT266A).
thanks.

You may have just gotten a card you can't apply the mod to and you may have
to flash the old bios back. Not sure so check with someone that knows more
first.

Good luck

Sorry, when it doesnt work, it usually just doesnt work... I have seen
threads where it seems that sometimes it works in one PC, and doesnt work in
another. Try and underclock it a bit, if that doesnt work, you're out of
luck... try and return it to the guy...

Thomas.

I myself have done the mod with omegas four times, one partially successful,
two completely successful, and one unsuccessful. The partially successful
one may be of interest to you, as I was able to get rid of almost all
artifacts ( although every card is different, and what worked for me might
not work for you ). First, get Rage3dTweak from rage3d.com. Then you can
overclock and tweak. How I ended up getting rid of my artifacts was
reducing the Zcompression to 1, whereas it is normally set to application or
3. Some people have had success by disabling HyperZ. It is really a crap
shoot, but if the card only has artifacts and doesn't crash - and the
artifacts aren't all over the screen uniformly - then you might be able to
salvage some of the additional speed. Try dropping the Zcompression first
thing after you install rage3dtweak...

Some people claim that enabling AA and AF makes the artifacts disapear.

Hyper Z is the hardware "memory manager" on Radeon cards. It mostly tries
to save bandwith by reducing the overdraw.

My advice would be: first try enabling AA and AF, and if that doesen't
work, try with HyperZ.

I guess re-installing windows in the best choice, nvidia drivers
dislike being removed....

well i realy don't want to do that because takes a long time to install all
of the drivers, progs.,... and i did it 2 months ago so... I used several
driver removers for nvidia to remove everything before installing ati
drivers. thanks.
