I see many low priced 9200SE cards - I need 2 cards for reasonable 3d
gaming - for example, my son's machine with a 1.4 Athlon does what he needs
with a geforce 2MX 400 Gainward Golden Sample overclock - and I need
something equivilent or a little better - possibly something on par with a
Geforce 3 Ti200? Please advise! Thank you!

For day to day gaming, I'd say my OC'd Radeon 7500 is on average as good as
my OC'd GF2 GTS 64MB. That said, a couple of Radeon 9200 video cards should
satisfy you. Frankly, I'd prefer you went to 9500 Pro's, but that's double
the money.

The 7500 may be close to the GTS-2, but in the end, they are both largely
obsolete...

But... the 8500LE 64MB cards are very cheap, support DX8.1 natively, and are
significantly faster than the 7500, GTS-2, or the 9200SE. The 8500LE runs
somewhere between the GF3 and GF4 for performance, depending on the game...

Barring availability of the 8500LE, the 9100 is also a good choice for ATI
chips as it is just a rebranded 8500 (RV200) chip... there are a number of
VisionTek Xtasy 9100 64 (and 128MB) cards sitting on the shelves of the
local Fry's and CompUSA's here in SoCal...

Don't forget for the budget crowd the GF4-MX, which can typically be found
for around $70USD, or it's replacement, the FX5200 which brings in support
for DX9.

But also if you shop carefully, you can find 9600Pro's for a very good
price. I picked up a 9600Pro BBA for $149.00 with 20 bucks back instant
rebate and a 20 dollar mail-in rebate (net cost --- $109.00) from CompUSA
here in San Diego...
