I purchased a Radeon 9000 (64 meg) quite sometime but was unable to use the
card immediately, and since I began using it I have nothing but probs. The
main problem I have is that boot up if I try to go into BIOS the screen
looks like my vertical hold went to crap on me. When I just let the computer
boot up right after the initial screen with boot options the screens go to
hell again until my desktop finaly loads. If I swap out the card and replace
it with my old card (manufacturer and such unknown) the computer runs fine
again. I have a feeling it is either a compatabiltiy issue with my mobo or
its a driver and I am interested int trying the honey driver but do not know
where to find it.

Thanx in advance

Systems specs:

1000 megahertz AMD Duron
128 kilobyte primary memory

ECS K7S5A 1.0 motherboard

Drives

15.79 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
4.06 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

IMATION CD-RW IMW040420 [CD-ROM drive]
LITE-ON LTR-52327S [CD-ROM drive]

SOunds similar to my problem... which may be more common (?)
I can't see anything on my (digital) monitor until the computer
is loading Windows... so I can't get into the BIOS> But on my
digital monitor, the screen just says it isn't getting a signal.
SO I can't go in to the bios or load safe mode... :-(

Now if we could just get some help. I just went through and thoroughly
cleaned all my fans and installed speedfan to keep the temps in check but
with no change. I have a KDS Avitron which is slightly dated, like most of
my gear, but all I want to do is watch videos and play some games. I even
bought a new stick of 256 DDR bringing me to 512. And again no change. Not
only do I have these problems with boot up, but my system is significantly
less stable with the Radeon. Please help.

Thanx

John

Uninstall all video drivers.

Shut Down

insert the new card

prevent windows from installing drivers automatically

Use either d/l latest catalyst drivers OR (and maybe a better choice for
you)

the CD-based drivers that came with your card.

Good luck
