For all you guys who are out looking for a new video card, ATI's opposition to the 8800gt is about to be released.

Reviews are trickling out on the web, looks interesting. Here is one:

Seems to give 95% of 8800gt performance, but cheaper, quieter and cooler - and that is with crappy drivers.

Looks pretty good I reckon, could be worth waiting for.
 
they'll be pants just like the 2900's..... :p
 
I hope it's going to be a good card, but I can't imagine recommending an ATI card to anyone quite yet. Come on AMD/ATI, bring out something that beats Nvidia!

What i mean is the card wil be ok, but the drivers will suck. :)
 
Your right the drivers are pants, but if they sort them out it seems like it would be a good rival to the GT.


Like with CPU's - we need AMD to get their ass in gear and put out some decent competition so prices come down.
 
The new Radeons use a lot less power so thats good and less power means less heat thats good too .

£150 pre-order at overclockers. About £25 less than an 8800gt.

Wasn't long ago I paid £250 for my 7900gt.

Computer industry stinks :(
 
Hey andy, whadda ya talking about? AMD procs are dirt cheap :p and you get about 85% of the performance of Intels stuff at 70% of the price
 
Alf - they're dirt cheap because they're not as good - hopefully their long awaited forthcoming chips will be better :thumb:
