R300 and resolutions

The Epson R300 has the following resolutions:
Economy (corresponds to 180dpi - Economy)
Normal (corresponds to 360dpi - Normal)
Photo (corresponds to 1440dpi - Super Fine)
....
So, there is a lack of a medium printing resolution 720dpi, known in other
printer models as "Fine". Does anybody know any driver version having "Fine"
selection, or how to force printing at 720dpi?
If I remember correct, an older R200 have had this resolution; could someone
confirm it?

I believe that the resolution is also dependent on the type of paper
selected.
"The availability of the Print Quality setting depends on the Paper Type
setting"
I'd select a photo paper, likely one of the glossy ones, and go from there.

As I remember, the high resoluton settings are totally dependent on the
driver software.
This precludes use of a "roll your own" driver, since Epson keeps the
details closely held.
 
I want to print in plain paper. When I choose "Photo" quality, the speed is
very low 25 pages/hour, when I choose "Normal" quality the speed is 100
pages/hour, but if even one nozzles isn't working the print isn't good.

"Fine" quality is *only* available with "Inkjet Quality" paper, the speed is
50 pages/hour, but in this mode much ink goes to plain paper...
 
Without seeing the driver involved it is hard for me to comment on this
specifically. I know some Epson drivers allow for you to select not
only paper type (and it is true that photo modes use more ink and make a
darker print on plain bond paper) but also print quality. Not
necessarily full resolution choices, but you can usually enhance the
plain paper printing for instance, to micro interleave, or whatever. It
will slow done the printing somewhat. The fastest modes are those that
print with every nozzles, moving line by line without any interlacing.
But they will also be the ones to show a clogged nozzle.

Hello Arthur,

It's strange that the R300/R200 prints 360dpi and 1440dpi but not 720dpi. I
wonder why the medium resolution 720dpi is missing... 360dpi isn't good
quality, 1440dpi is slow.
I can't recall for sure, but I think that an *old* R200 driver printed Fine
(720dpi) resolution. If I'm correct, it's worth looking for this driver.
That's why I ask for confirmation, and which version it is, if any.

According to the Linux installation guide it can.

The resolutions available at any one time relate directly to the media and
other options you choose in the driver.
