I have Mitac 7321 Laptop running WinXP Home.
Works fine when im doind stuff offline but when I connect to the internet
and the icon appears in the tray, all of a sudden I discover that I cant
load any programs (Internet explorer, outlook) even things that dont use the
net wont load. The only progs that work are the ones that have loaded into
the tray already.

When I disconnect the modem, not only does it take absolutely ages, but as
soon as the icon vanishes, all of the programs I tried to load all appear at
once? Whats going on? Can anybody help me?

To my knowledge there havent been any new additions to the system

I doubt this is a hardware problem, which may be why your question got no
replies.

Spyware and adware can cause all kinds of strange problems getting online
so take a look there first. I would get a copy of Adaware and Spybot
(use google), and do a thorough virus scan with fresh definitions.

Or drivers may need to be reinstalled. And some ISPs give out fancy
bloatware dialers that can have their own problems.
