Quietest Hard Drive?

I presently have a 40gig Seagate Barracuda IV and find it
acceptably quiet.

I want to get another drive, larger, and put it in a USB
drive case to image my disk every few days as a complete
backup. Should the 40 gig fail, or should I run out of
room, which I expect, I would simply swith disks because
the one in the USB case would be an exact image.

What NOW is the quietest drive around that would work well
in such a setup?

TIA

The quietest would undoubtedly be one of the tiny ones made for use in
laptop computers. Any one of them will probably be quieter than the quietest
drive made for "normal" desktop computer usage. Problem is that they cost
more, have limited capacity, and provide mediocre performance (compared to
your average desktop drive anyway). Of course if you are working through the
bottleneck of a USB channel the reduced performance may not mean much.

I thought my old IBM was quiet until I got a Maxtor 133 40 gig etc.
If it wasn't for the hard drive light on my case I wouldn't even know
it was there :)
