Quicktime auto opens and deposits an icon in the right hand tray.

I have looked everywhere for a lace to turn this off. Nothing to see
(I think) with regedit, though I could be wrong. Definately nothing in
any startup directory.

Any ideas how to prevent it from loading short of removing it from the
system?

TIA

pain to get rid of go start run type msconfig go to startup tab uncheck the
qttask box then note where qttask.exe is located and DELETE the file if not
it will just put itself back

1 Do a Search on your machine for qttask.exe
2 Rename all instances of qttask.exe to qttask2.exe
3 Restart your computer

qttask can't load and won't generate an error message. You can still view
..mov files.

Why not just go into QT preferences and uncheck the box that states "start
QuickTime when windows starts"? Works for me.

OK, but I start QT... go to Edit> Preferences> then I can't see
"start Quicktime etc". Where is it? I looked through everything from
"Browser Plug-In" to "Video Setting"
