I work in a school district and am trying to update about
a dozen machines. When I run an over-the-web update on
some of the machines, the scan very quickly reaches 100%
and then says no updates are available -- even though the
machines are SP3 and have had no patches installed, except
the Blaster patch. Note: there is no policy configured
for blocking Windows Updates.

Any thoughts?

I'm in the field now and a personal e-mail, if possible,
would be very helpful as well as a response to the group.

Thanks,
Greg,

the following is from MS update page:

Important Note: Do not install security update MS03-026
before installing SP4. The security update must be applied
after SP4 has been installed on computers. Once you have
successfully installed SP4, you should then install MS03-
026, which protects against vulnerabilities caused by the
Blaster worm. For more information about the Blaster worm,
see What You Should Know About the Blaster Worm and Its
Variants.

I too installed MS03-026 before installing SP4 and now
can't install the new Service Pack. I think we both are
awaiting an answer to a similar question posed by Charles
S.

Try checking the date and times of the computers that are
not updating. If they are ahead or behind in years the
update site will not function (reaches 100% quickly)
corectly. You can also look at the help file its in there
to.
