Quickly linking emails to their contacts in Outlook 2003 XP

This has been a quest of mine for a while and I have done a lot of
searching on it to no avail as of yet.

I'm a heavy user of Outlook and would like to be able to see, at a
glance, what emails I have exchanged with a contact so I can check my
history with the person before starting a new email with them.

There is the Activities tab when opening a particular contact, but it
is extremely slow as it reindexes all the mail each time. I'd even
venture to say it is so slow as to render it completely meaningless as
a feature.

I'm hoping someone knows about an add-in (or anything) that keeps the
mail indexed (like Lookout,
http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/download.html) and makes the
Activities tab respond more instantly.

Even if there's something else, like a larger program that interfaces
with Outlook and covers that base while doing other things, I'd
consider it if it's not too expensive.

Thanks in advance.

I have this same problem. My computer is very slow in listing the
Activtities tab. Is there a solution? I bought more RAM, but that did not
help.
