Still can't find answer to this. These settings have to be saved somewhere.
What is the key that is preventing it from being saved? Had to do repair
install of XP Pro. Ever since, this has been happening. THe icons are still
there when I select Quicklaunch from popup menu. But all gone after restart.
Any help greatly appreciated.

That doesn't work either. Added the NoSaveSettings into registry, but didn't
help. In Taskbar properties, "Show Quicklaunch" is checked. Why wouldn't
this cause settings to be saved? What's that for?
I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Ok try this:

1) change the setting as you want them to be
2) LOG OFF (instead of turning off the computer)
3) Turn off the computer from the link that is in the lower left corner of
the welcome screen
4) Start again the computer and tell me if the quicklaunch problem was
solved.

My hunch? Explorer is crashing while you are turning off the pc and it does
not retain the settings.

On this page http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_u.htm#xp_util I
downloaded a utility called 'taskbar repair tool plus' and it fixed that
problem for me.

Thanks for the replys, guys. I'll try the suggestions and get back to you.
I have downloaded the utility. Which choice did you use to fix the problem.
The only one that looks like it might work is the one that needs the license.

I got my license to the repair tool, but none of the selections help solve
the problem.
