Hi there,

I have two identical Acer Laptops.

One has a broken screen, but it is the more important one. I want to swap
the hard drives over as they are both the same model?

Both running Windows XP.

Is this going to give me any problems?

Do I need to check the bios are set the same first or something - any
caveats I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance

David

Not sure what you mean by broken, but if the display is still readable the
yes check and compare the BIOS settings, it can't hurt.
Also download Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html to
both laptops.
Advisor will give you some useful data about your laptop(s) hardware and
software.

Thanks for the input on this.

Never actually got it to work in theend because on one of the ACER's the
screws were just too tight! Could not get them out and we were starting to
thread the screw.

So rather then damage it further we thought we would wait until some
different screws were available.

Any tips welcome.

If the screw is too tight try spraying some cold compressed air on it for a
good 3 seconds. Then try removing the screw.

Hi David:

Are two machine exactly the same and the same configuration of memory and
CPU?

The only iisue it is that is the machine detect that there has been several
changes in the configuration, you can be asked to activate again your copy
of windows XP.

I hope it helps
