Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has seen a freeware program (that works under
Windows) like like this:

I want a program that will send emails and only send. No checking of any
kind is required. In fact, it doesn't even have to keep a record of the
emails sent.

Why, you might ask? I am subscribed to a a number of mailing lists with
a separate email address for each. They all eventually end up in the
same inbox so checking isn't a problem, but I don't want to create new
"accounts" in my email client (mozilla) just so I can every now and then
post to the list. If I could just run a small "client" when i wanted ot
post to the list, that would be great.

Ideally, the program would only have a FROM field, a TO field, an SMTP
server field, a subject field, and a text box to enter the text of the
email.

Anyone know if something like this is available? If not, I can write one
myself, I just don't want to re-invent the wheel if I don't have to.

Black Box Mailer (BBM) will do this. I used to use it for the purpose you
describe and it worked fine. FYI, some ISPs check the "from" field to
ensure it is the registered email address. In that case, BBM would not
work.

Here is a page that has 2 listed.

I just tried BBM and it works, but I'm not thrilled with the way it
saves the info. it does post to usenet in addition to email though.

On that same page I found a better one called Speedmail. It's tiny -
175kb - no install, no registry entries, and it save the info in a much
easier to use way.

Speedmail is the solution for me.

Thanks for ponting out BBM - without knowing that I wouldn't have found
Speedmail.

Geminisoft Pimmy could do this.
You can set a "from" address for any "to" address of your address book.
It does not keep a record o email sent if you do not want; it does not
check any account if you do not want.
It's a wonderful software, tiny.

FWIW, what I do is create a single extra account (in Thunderbird, but
Mozilla should work the same) that I call "Temp". Then when I need to
post to that infrequent mail list, I change the from address of the
Temp account to match the mailing list. I find this easier to do than
starting up a separate email client, and having one extra account
(rather than one for each mailing list) is acceptable. But YMMV, of
course.
