I am helping a friend organize some files on his Windows
2000 machine. When I attempt to access Windows Explorer
I get a window that is headed with the title
Quickfinder. It looks like it is part of Windows, but I
am used to using the Explorer interface.
Is Quickfinder part of windows and is there a way to
disable it so that I can use Explorer?

Hi there,
Quick finder is part of Word Perfect program which you can
safely disable from startup using the MSConfig. Please
download MSConfig for Windows 2000 from here:

http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/File_store/XP%
20Version/MSCONFIG.EXE

Shortened URL:

Launch MSConfig after download, click Startup tab and
disable Word Perfect and MS Office related entries and
click OK.

If still no joy, then clean boot Windows 2000:
