Is there a way to prompt I.E. to "simplify" a large image
for download? Ex: 4.0mp with 16.7mm colors takes forever
for us dial-up people! Can I.E. get to the source file
and dumb-down the quality for faster loading?

I think you'll find that the site creator needs to decide whether to offer
lower quality/density images that you can select. If they don't offer them,
there is nothing that IE (on your PC) can do about it. Once a picture is at
your PC you can decide what resolution to keep based on your own tools, but
that doesn't solve your problem.

Have you considered asking the web site owner to offer a lower resolution
copy?

Rickety, I was just wondering "in general". There are too
many sites out there to police. Because of that, I wanted
to know if there was something I could do on my end.
Guess not. It's not just web developers that sometimes
forget there are still dial-ups out there, it's peple who
post full resolution
