I purchased a Quickcam Chat Webcam-USB 640x480 about a week ago. My
operating system is Windows XP. I know pretty much for a fact that my system
is operating okay as far as the sound board and that. I have talked to the
manufacture's tech people til I'm blue in the face to hopefully get their
help with the problem and also the company I purchased it from, MacMall.

The problem is that I have no sound and in a web conversation with someone,
I have no sound, or speaker function. The mic and speaker is an ear piece
with the mic on the cord. Oh, I forgot to mention, it is made by logitech.
When I try to just record something, when it plays back on Windows media
player, I have a good picture, but no sound. Can anyone help me? I have
tried everything that I can think of to get sound.

Have you made sure the connections are correct to your sound card for the
mike/earpiece? Input connection could be dirty - make sure you clean the
connectors. Make sure the line-in is not muted (checkbox) in Sound Control
panel. Have you tried to use the mike in another program such as Sound
Recorder (Start...Programs...Accessories...Entertainment) to make sure the
mike/earpiece is not defective in and of itself? Also go to
Start...Settings...Control Panel...Sounds & Audio Devices, Voice tab, click
Test Hardware for troubleshooting.
Finally, go to Google Groups and search for "no sound webcam" - looks like
lots of other people have had this issue.

Thanks Jon for your advice. I'm sure the connections are right. Also, I
travel 30 miles today to my brother's house and tried the mic and headphone
on his computer. He also has a logitech camera. My mic and headphone worked
okay on his system. So, the problem has to be with my system. I will try
the things you mentioned. Wish me luck. If you think of anything else
please let me know. Thank you very much. I appreciate you wanting to help.
