Quickbooks Conversion Using ODBC extremely slow

Hi,

On a monthly basis we have to use the "get external data" feature in access
to import a table from quickbooks.

Each month the process adds on about 15 minutes for the conversion. We have
condensed quickbooks and tried the conversion locally, and in a new empty
database but get the same results. We are now sitting at about 3 1/2 hours to
run the conversion, and any other activity on the computer locks up the
conversion so that it will not complete.

Does anyone have any ideas on things we could try to help speed this up. I
have looked at http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm and tried some of the
applicable items.

Thanks !
Dan

Hi Dan,

This may not be of much help, since you've already visited Tony's site. My
next step would be the quickbooks side. Is there a newsgroup for QB? or
maybe tech support at Intuit? or user support group?

One thing I can tell you is Quickbooks is ridiculously slow to begin with. I
have 3 or so users using QB on fast computers. I could never understand why
everything has to be slow in QB.
