OSbandito

Ranked by number of posts, at least on my n'server.

1-ASUS
2-Gigabyte
3-Abit (close to tie w/Gigabyte)
4-MSI
5-EPOX

Fewer than 25 posts on the others; some w/no posts.

This is a little disappointing, since I recently
decided to avoid ASUS based on comments posted here.
Will have to look into company-based online (incl. forum)
support to get a broader view.

Doesnt prove anything much if you dont know the volumes sold.

And even if you did, there has to be a considerable bias
in what gets used in the cheaper packaged systems and
the users of those likely wouldnt even know what a news
group was if it bit them on their collective lard arses.

Not clear what you mean there, maybe that you'd prefer
to buy motherboards that have lots of posts about them.

The asus forums arent that flash, some remarkably superficial posters.

Maybe there are the most posts about ASUS because it has the most problems.

Posts used as a statistic for popularity of a motherboard is poor at best. If a brand sold 40
million units in a year and the next only 5 then you can see that there would naturally be more
posts. and many other reasons.......

From all I have read on the Asus group a large majority of the problems with
Asus are between the chair and the keyboard........:-)

You should consider

http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/index.php

A LOT of people have blown off newsgroups for the on line forums.

AVS forum (HDTV) and DFI street (motherboards) are a couple of
popular forums that have all the traffic and information.

I'd imagine a lot of the old asus crowd has wandered off to DFI.
