Hi,
i've got an 80gig ide drive and have just bought
another.(WinME).....

My plan:

The old one has three partitions (c,d,e). I've want to wipe everything
from the boot partition and leave data in d and e and remove it. I
install the new drive and give it 3 partitions and install windows on
it. I then add the old drive to the system as a slave drive.

Question:

Will windows just shift all the drive letters of the old drive up and
let me move data between them, or is it going to make it more
complicated for me?

Thanks,
Mike

As far as I know, Win98/Me assigns drive letters on the basis of the Primary
Partition on the Primary Master is C. Thereafter, any other primary
partitions would be D, etc. It then allocates the first logical partition
on the first drive the next free letter, and so on until you either run out
of drives or letters ;o)

Hope this helps.
