i just installed a dsl connection at our office location (OS win98). as soon
as i run windows update everytime i go online there would be an error with IE
saying the page has to be closed - send, don't send error report. everytime i
go to another website the same happens? can i revert back to IE 5.x? is there
anything else i could do?

An error of somesort occured and you need to reinstall ie(easyest way). If
that doesn't work try to reinstall win98.

should i try using hijack this, lspfix, and/or spybot first? the bad thing is
that i forgot if the existing version of IE was 5.0 or 5.5 - would there be a
problem switching right away to IE 6.0 sp1?

Do *NOT* reinstall (yet). Anybody who suggests you do so without obtaining
further information about your crash is guessing.

We need more information to be able to help you. Click on the details button
(or details link) when your system crashes and provide:

xxx caused an xxx in xxx at xxx:xxxx

or if you are using a later operating system, provide information about the
files (modules) involved in the crash.

If you are using the Error Reporting Tool, disable it so you can access the
error message in a more understandable form. Informationon how to disable
the Error Reporting Tool is here:
