I've tried everything but I can't figure out how to make
the quick launch display as small icons instead of the
default huge chunky ones. Can you help me out here?
James
Well, first right click on the Task Bar - where there is
nothing on it, between the START button and the area with the
clock - and make sure you do NOT have a check next to "Lock
the Task Bar".
Now, you need to get your mouse where it is on / around
the quick launch icons but NOT ON any icon.
When your mouse is in place you can right click and
select OPEN FOLDER.
This folder can also be found in:
C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Micro
Soft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
(screw THAT! just right click and hit OPEN FOLDER for me!)
Anyway, get that folder open and you will see all the
icons that are in the Quick Launch tool bar.
Now go to VIEW and select LIST. Close it. - That should
give you small t-niny icons on your task bar.
Now about it KEEPING that look.. well.. there is the bad
part. If you go to Windows Explorer and then Tools and then
Folder Options and then the VIEW TAB, and look you will see
where you can / should check: Remember each folder's view
settings.
THEN you can hit apply and OK.
BUT - there is a PROBLEM with XP and remembering folder
settings. Yes, MS XP sucks at that.
So if you find all this works for a few weeks and then
stops working; then post a message back about XP losing folder
settings and get another lesson in XP.
Hope this all helps.
