Hi all,
I recently added a number of photo galleries to my wife's website. This of
course leads me to a couple of questions:
An example is at: www.edmontonweddingphotographer.com/NicoleDon.htm

As you can see, due to the black background, the arrows that move the
slideshow left and right are not very bright. Can I change the color of the
arrows?

Alternatively, I have checked out a few more photo album programs and really
like J Album (http://jalbum.net/) I like this one because it gives me a few
more options , layouts, etc. and I understand is also better viewable in
other browsers. However when I have created the slideshow, I can't figure
out how to upload it to my FP Site. I have tried a few things to no avail.
I'm willing to try others though if I can accomplish what I want to do.

Sorry for the multi-question post and thanks for any info.

Gary

Go with JAlbum, its great...highly customizable, free, and easy to
incorporate into FP web.

Generate your JAlbum into a folder outside of FP. When you're incredibly
happy with the results (you may have to experiment a few times) then you
will Import the entire folder into FrontPage. Once in FP you can adjust some
stuff and add links back to the main web.

Hint: Resize your images to the biggest you want displayed first, also
optimize them too..before JAlbum. Use IrFanview for batch
processing...incredible program and its also FREE.

I have several JAlbum albums here: http://www.balletandfriends.org - you'll
have to do a little wrestling with the navigation...I havent had the energy
to redo the navs yet.

Thanks for the quick reply Rob. At the risk of sounding like an ignoramus,
do I literally "import" my local copy of the entire folder containing the
files, or can I just drag and drop in onto my live site?
Also, once it's there do I just "save" the site and name the new page that I
created to put the slideshow on?

Gary,

The alternatives to FP Photogallery are good. However, you can easily modify
the arrows used in Photogallery to make them more visible.

If you use the defaults, the gallery is created in new folder or directory
called "photogallery" (for example, My Documents\My Webs\Gary's
Website\photogallery\") in which is a subfolder with a computer-generated
name like "photo00000481" or something similar. Within THIS folder are four
GIF image files names next.gif, nextdis.gif, prev.gif and prevdis.gif.

You can open these GIFs in any image editing program, such as Paint Shop
Pro, and re-size them larger, add color, even replace them with arrows of
your own choosing. Save the edited files (perhaps after first making copies
of the originals, just in case something goes wrong!) and you are done.

Thanks Alex. Makes sense and I think I can handle it:)
Now if the darn thing would just look ok in FF.

I agree...it's also one of the reasons I want to use JAlbum. I'm having
trouble getting my head around how to publish it though.
G.

Yes.
Open FP
Open WEb/Site
File | Import...then browse to the folder outside of FP where you generated
your JAlbum into and import the whole thang into your FP web.

YOu could probably drag and drop...but since I tend to drop things in the
wrong place...better to Import.

Yes, then Save.

Now your folder that you imported will have an index.html page you will need
to create a link from that main one back to whatever page you want in your
web.

Any subfolders in your jalbum will also have index files..no need to link
them because they already are linked to the main jalbum page.

Publish to your server..and yer done....ah,, usually :-)

Got it done! However...the slideshows look great in FF but the rest of my
site is messy. Table's out of whack, etc.

What link do you want us to see?
