The questions I have pretain to a problem that I've had
for around a month and a half now. I've come to the point
where I'm trying to finally get all of the settings on my
computer right and things won't work right, I'm
constantly having to change certain settings on my mobo
to try and get it to register my amd athlon xp 3000+.
It's rather annoying as it will be finicky and work and
than it won't.
I've checked all conflicts and there are none. I'm
running the A7N8X E-Deluxe, with an amd athlon xp 3000+,
512 ram, ge force fx 5900, and trying to install xp home,
when I do it stalls and shuts down my computer. I just
want it to run. and it won't.

Any error messages??
Try the mobo makers site for bios info, what will
the currently installed bios support? If it wont
support your athlon 3k+ that could be a problem.

What is the mobo, how recent is it, does it post?
updating a bios can be tricky, only do it if you
MUST! Try everything else first.
There are plenty of "how to's" on the net.

Mike.

You don't say what settings you have so guessing what your
problem is requires a lot of luck.

Are you over-clocking the FSB? Are you over-clocking the
video card? Are you trying to run very high resolution and
refresh rates?

Is your power supply larger enough to handle all the drives,
mobo and such? What temperature does the system run?

Have you an up to date BIOS?

Hi;
It's just about the best AMD board available but with so many features and
possible setup arrangements.
We need to know EVERYTHING about what you want to include starting with PSU,
what features you want to use or not (IDE, SATA, RAID, LAN{s}), how
many/much/size of each "ingredient, etc and "whatever else comes to mind".

Running an A7N8XdeLuxe myself w. XP 3000+ (Barton). a gig of mem'y,
ATI/Sapphire 9800ProUltimate 256 and it's error free...
....so there's is a solution to your problem(s)!

ReHi;
Most common cause is found in BIOS:
Type of Video Card to run 1st is originally set to PCI (vs your AGP).

That will do it everytime (as you described).
Access at start-up and check/correct that setting.
Save/Exit/Restart.
