You haven't wrecked it. Windows 98 made the partition it was installed
on the ~active~ partition. So you have to make the XP partition the active
one
in order to boot into XP.

Boot from your Windows 98 Bootdisk.
Press Shift-F5 to get to the command line.
Run FDISK
Answer Y to large disk support and Y to treating NTFS partitions as large.
Select option "2) Set Active Partition".
Choose the number that corresponds to the NTFS partition.
After selecting it, press ESC until you're back to the command line. Then
reboot.

That will get you back into XP. There's most likely a way to install XP's
own
boot manager, but I don't know how just yet, 'cos I'm newbie too.

Tony.

Hi, Sabin.

Boot from the WinXP CD-ROM and use the Repair procedure to restore the WinXP
boot-up files, including C:\boot.ini, which provides the dual-boot menu.

That is, do that IF your Drive C: is formatted FAT32. If it is NTFS, your
job will be MUCH harder!

The Golden Rule is to install the newest Windows LAST. WinXP Setup knows
just how to handle Win98, but Win98 Setup has no idea what to do with WinXP.
And no matter which drive or partition Win98 is installed on, the boot
process must start with Drive C: - and that MUST use a format that Win98 can
read.
