I recently purchased an OQO Model 2 with Vista Ultimate, I installed a OEM
SB copy of Vista Ultimate on my Averatec 2370 laptop and an OEM SB copy of
Vista Ultimate on my AMD 64x2 tower. The problem is, I'm not having any
problems! Is this something I should be worried about???

If you are not having any problems what are you worrying about? Just because
other users experience some problems doesn't mean that you will. I have only
had a few minor problems with Vista ever since I first beta tested it. Don'
be concerned that you are not having problems, just enjoy it!

John, I suspect that you may have responded to a tongue-in-cheek piece
of troll-bait. I doubt it was a serious question.

Well, Bruce, if I have then all the trolls will come out to play. At least
it gives them something to do:-)

If, on the other hand, it is a genuine question, then it cannot be said that
no one gave a satisfactory answer. I like to think there is good in everyone
on this newsgroup - well with the exception of ?/@$ and &^%" (names have
been changed to avoid identification) :-) Only Joking:-)

Still I dare say you are right.

Is he saying he installed the same OEM that came with his OQO on two other
computers, and is amazed he is having no repercussions? Because if that is
the case he needs to look at Control Panel>System to see how many days he has
to purchase the extra OEM copies he installed. Last Thanksgiving my nephew
thought it would be cool to install my new eMachines Vista Premium OEM on
another pc in the house. When I looked, we had 3 days to purchase it for
$275. I didn't wait and reinstalled my original valid copy of XP over it.
Does anyone know what happens if you wait the 3 (or 30) days and don't
purchase it. Do they still disconnect most of the features? Just askin.

Nah, these are 3 seperate licenses, 1 that came with the OQO and 2 purchased
through newegg. I'm also evaluating Windows Live OneCare because I want to
move away from offering F-Secure to my customers (F-Secure seems to bog down
the machines just like NIS and I've had complaints of update servers not
being available.). So far so good. The addition of OneCare seems to be
approaching the comfort boundary on the OQO though, while I see no
performance hit, I've noticed the case fan runs more often now.

Seriously, I am not having any troubles with Vista, it was more of a tongue
in cheek congrats to Microsoft for doing things right - again.

Lou, personally I've never found One Care to be much good. I've beta tested
a couple of versions and have been disappointed with it. One of the main
hang up's was updating which still is an hit and miss issue. Many people
also tend to panic when One Care turns off the Windows firewall, little
realising that One Care has its own firewall.

When asked about Anti Virus/Firewall/Anti Spyware I usually steer people to
AVG, Zone alarm (although the windows firewall is fine) and, of course,
Windows Defender (which is already installed on Vista). While I still use
the Windows Firewall and Defender, Anti Virus is covered by Sophos
Enterprise Anti Virus. Sophos, however, is an expensive anti virus solution,
but it's one that works extremely well.
