Why are there a bunch of third party programs being discussed in this Windows
Defender NewsGroup

well, we are all in this together and sometimes when something comes up we
ask. Besides it is good to know when another program does an update.. Also
if you ask anyone here, no one is just running Windows Defender.

Hi Dave

Where did you dig that up from? Ronnies memoirs before he lost the plot??
May we take the fifth??

Lets be careful out there ;)

If you visit any malware removal site, you'll see that they require running
several such programs prior to posting a HJT log. No one tool will find/fix
all problems.

Besides that, to what else could we compare WD?

Exactly. You don't have to potter about here for long before realising that
the generally recommended philosophy seems to be not to put all your eggs in
one basket. So using other antispyware programs is not only part of the
process, it's also an important part of testing Defender for possible
conflicts.

OK here goes please. Friend has Norton AV and uses XP Home but SP1. She
cannot get a clean uninstall of the Symantec AV stuff. Is there an easy way
or small software uninstall - she is desperate.
Thanks
