Sorry I'm not quite sure what you mean - do you already have Telewest broadband, or are you just considering it?

If you have Telewest, they supply you with a cable modem (make sure its cable connect, not USB!) - then you connect the modem to the router and then your PCs to the router either with a RJ45 cable or wirelessly.

A wireless cable router costs around £50 depending on make/model.

Could you help me get the right one from argos.

I have a cable modem with telewest .

It is only connect to the usb on the pc to make it work.

The modem is,nt connect to a phone socket like bt is.

bought one from agros called BELKIN with a network card.Ver 1000uk.

but it is new so am taking it back to swap or a refund.

Was told that will not work with a cable modem.

Do agros sell any cheap router for telwest broanband.

Ok michael, firstly you have a problem because you have a cable modem with a usb connection - this means it will not connect to a wireless cable router - you need to get a Cat5 RJ45 ethernet cable - in fact you will need 2 as you need one to connect the router to your PC.

Any wireless cable router will do the job (Belkin/Netgear/Linksys etc)- I have had a quick glance at the Argos site and they don't have any, so get a refund and go to PC World and get one there:thumb:

so you mean more money.

Get a refund on tuesday.

Could i get the lot from pc world for 90 pounds.

I think there a ethernet card in a old pc with the cable.

There alot of setting up when your on cable modem.

Seen more easy on a bt line.

Michael, get this Belkin Wireless Router at PC World HERE for £44.99 - I have it and it works great with Telewest.

Use your old Ethernet card and cable - if I remember the router also comes with one, so you will have 2.

Its not difficult to set up honestly - go to the Belkin website HERE where they have tutorials.

You can always ask for help here setting up as well :thumb:

BT, BT don't do "proper" broadband ... you have to mess around with "filters" ... you ALWAYS need an extention longer than any supplied, if indeed you get supplied ... you have to "pay" for the modem ... if you have a "problem" you never know if it's the phone or the bloody modem.

Naw ... give me cable (true broadband) anyday, just a shame some cable companies don't know what they are doing and keep supplying stupid USB modems.

;)
