how can you use powers/exponents with regular numbers
Press Ctrl-Shift-+, then type the exponent, then press Ctrl-space to
return to normal formatting.
If the exponents are 2 and 3, you're better off to use the dedicated
characters. Press and hold Alt, then type the numbers 0178 on the
numeric keypad, then release Alt. (³ [cubed] is Alt-0179.)
