The instructions with my HP LaserJet cautioned me not to shine bright
light into it, suggesting that doing so would be like opening a camera
with film in it. Now I use a laser printer, and I am preparing to
install a lamp directly over it to make changing ink cartridges
easier. Is there any worry about shining light into printer?

It probably has a green photosensitive drum and this is the bit (and
possibly a few other bits) that doesnt want light exposure. So when you
are installing toner cartridges is the green drum exposed?
