Hi Guys, I have a powerpoint file which is 13 MB in size. When i try to make
a change and save it, it freezes up the system and the CPU usage goes to 100
%. I have tried this on many systems. Still the same issue.
Could some one tell me how i can fix this.

Many Thanks

manny

My first step would be Bill's question - is the file on a
network drive? If yes, copy to your computer and try to
work with it locally.

Often it is one slide that has a corrupt image,
conflicting coding or something of that nature that causes
a problem when saving. One way is to open a new
presentation and use the INSERT >> SLIDES FROM FILES
option to import the slides 1 at a time into the new
presentation. Do a save after each slide is imported.
Either all will import and save correctly, or the
presentation will freeze up and you know which slide
number is the problem.

While the user does mention the largish size of their presentation, that is
not the primary issue or likely to be a contributing factor. The primary
issue is the system freezing while doing a save.

And although file size reduction is always a good idea (see -- Do this
before using PowerPoint seriously --
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm where the concept of file size
is brought up to new users), it will probably not help the user in this
instance.

Thank you, as always, for suggesting help for your peers.
