Hello,

Please let me know if this is the appropriate group to discuss pivot
tables. I didn't see a more specific one.

I need to create a pivot table on a regular basis from some data that's
automatically generated (IE, I don't have any way to modify this source
data)

By default, when I create the pivote table, the columns are fully
popluated from column A to column CC. I want to only see a subset of
these columns. Say, 20 of these columns.

Obviously I can do this manually by going through and unclicking "All"
and then clicking back in the specific columns that I want.

The problem is (I'm lazy :) and I don't want to do that(since there's a
lot of data headers that look the same and I might forget one).

I'd like to be able to have the column headers that I want to display
listed in another worksheet the pivot table to read that and show the
appropriate ones for me.

Is this possible?
(and is my description of the problem clear?)

Many Thanks,
Alex

Though still not exatly the end result that I'm looking for I have
discovered that I get the results that I'm looking for by using
"Advanced Filter" (which lets me filter on a column of known data) on
the raw data that I end up using to create the pivot table.
Any suggestions apperciated.

Many Thanks,
Alex
