Question regarding setting up a server to 2 networks

I have couple servers which are connected to the company network. The file
transfer is extrime slow and sometimes not possible due to the heavy loading
of the network. Since every server comes with more then one LAN card, I
wonder if I can setup another network just for those servers so when the
servers transfer data between the servers, it doesn't have go thru the
company network. Thanks!

that's sound interesting. im no expert but i guess you could achieve it by
using another subnet range on the second card on the servers. im sure there
must be better ways to achieve your end goal though i.e install a better
network backbone between the servers. im sure someone else will give you a
better answer.

Sounds like you need an analyst to come in and determine where your
bottleneck is, then address that issue. You may NOT have a network issue,
for example; you may have a disk or memory bottleneck on one or more servers
slowing things down.

Thanks both. The problem with our network is something way beyond my area.
That's why I need to setup a "private" connection within my servers but still
be able to connect to the corporate network. Any clue how to do it?

I have plenty of clues, but knowing nothing useful about your network or its
layout all I can give is general advice. Get a router, program it for a
different address range than the one you currently use. Connect a second
NIC to this router (or, if necessary, a switch connected to the router) from
each server. Either assign addresses via DHCP or use fixed IP addresses for
the second NIC in each server that match the address range of the new
router.

I would still strongly recommend consulting with a professional and/or
trying to narrow down the problem before you throw money at it and hope it
will fix the problem. But it's your choice.

Thanks Richard! I'll try to get a router and try to get my servers working.
My situation is we're a company with over 10k staff and over 200 locations.
Our coporate network is run by a team which thinks we are just wasting of
bandwidth. For a tiny departartment like ours, there's nothing we can do
with the corporate network, let alone having someone to look at it. Thanks
again!
