Hi all -

I have MailWasher open, and for the past hour, on and off, the icon on the
bottom toolbar has been flashing to indicate that Venus has a trapped a fly.
Yet, when I open it, there is no fly, dead or alive. This is the first time
this has happened since I've been using it, which, actually, has only been a
couple of weeks, so..I am not sure just what this means.

Now, a couple of times I was in the midst of a project, and could not stop
at that exact moment and check, but, others I could. There was a lot of
whistles, bells and lights going off, but, no train in sight. Sorta like a
false activation. I'm just curious as to this type of action by MW might
mean.

Best regards,
Jan :)

Maybe, you have some filter activated that's auto deleting the mail. But
first, MW must receive the email which will activate MW's new mail logic,
before it deletes it.

I know Outlook using it's delete filters will notify on new mail that has
been filtered for deletion.

I use MW but I have not noticed what you're talking about.

I take it that you mean that MailWasher indicates that you have mail?

Try going to View and select Show Hidden emails.

Could it be that I am taking a bit too long to open the MW once the flashing
starts to signal the trap has been sprung, thus, prehaps it is simply being
treated as a blackhat caller and deleted after a while? I just really know
how the program works yet, and what it does once it is activated, so, I am
merely asking a question. One other question if you would not mind, what
does it mean when you get a message in red? I have not set anything to be
displayed in red, at least not that I am aware of.

Thank you so for your time to reply, I really do appreciate it.

Best regards,
Jan :)

Try going to View and select Show Hidden emails.

I am sorry to seem like a total Guppy a minnow bucket full of Catfish, but,
I have tried to find the View, and can't find it. I have looked under all
the pulldowns and can't find any View. Would this be visible if there is a
message in the list? The situation I have is, there is no message in the
list. It's sorta like... the lights are on, but, nobody's home. At the
moment, this is happening about every 3-5 minutes. I'm now as soon as I see
the icon flashing, but, there is still nothing there.

I checked out the reference here, but, actually, didn't find a reference to
the type of situation I have. But, a really good resource, and I added it
to my Fav's. :-)) Thank you!

It has not done anything like this before, that is why it seemed so strange
that it is now seeming to give false alarms.

Thank you very much for your time to reply, and the great information. I
really do appreciate it.

Hi Duane!

Could it be that I am taking a bit too long to open the MW once the

What I think that's happening here is that MailWasher detected a new email
and notified. In the meantime, you started your email program or maybe it
was all ready running with MW running too.

If you're using OE, then OE has three ways to pull email from the ISP into
the INBOX.

1) OE will pull emails when it starts-up.
2) OE will pull emails on a timed basis.
3) You can send and receive emails manually by using the SEND/RECV button.

MW goes to the ISP to get the email too on a timed basis or you can use the
Check Mail button. So MW notified of a new email. OE pulled the email into
INBOX and at that point the email is no longer at the ISP email server,
because OE has it. Now when you start MW or MW has been pulling emails on a
timed basis for awhile and you were doing other things, MW screen is going
to be empty, because OE has pulled them.

Actually, MW doesn't pull anything, it just allows you to view whats at the
ISP's email server and manipulate it before pulling it into OE.

I take OE out of its 1 and 2 features above and use feature 3 exclusively
where I got the control as to when OE Sends or Receive emails. No email is
just going to be automatically received or sent. I have the control when it
happens. Stop the email at the ISP with a virus before it's pulled to the
computer approach.

I just really know how the program works yet, and what it does
once it is activated, so, I am merely asking a question. One other
question if you would not mind, what does it mean when you get a

MW can detect an email that has a virus in it And on the MW's Status
column, Virus will be displayed in RED, when MW as detected that the email
has a virus. That's the only thing I know of something in red while you're
viewing emails.

I have never paid attention to an email response like this until now
where the responder has filled in some missing words. It's kind of neat.

I am glad I could help you.
