I see in my bios set up this is set to enabled. When using the program
Probe v2.22.04 it shows the cpu to be running around 51C on a AMD
3200+ chip. When I first start up the computer I see the CPU fax at 0
rmp till the cpu hits around 57-58 C then it kicks in and bring the
temp to 50C to 51C and stays there. If cool 'n' quite technology were
disable would it run cooler. 50 C seems warm for a CPU or is this ok.

Thank You for any Info

It runs hot. Mine only reaches 50C after heavy use and then drops down to
below 40 and sometimes low 30s (if I open the case goes down to high 20s).
Make sure that under power management options you have Minimal PM selected
and you have the AMD A64 driver installed that will enable Cool n' Quiet to
work, otherwise it won't work. But even then your temps are rather hot. If I
disable cool and quiet and leave the case closed with only low speed fans (I
hate noise) it wouldn't go much above 40 and usually hovers around 41C most
of the time. With CnQ enabled it usually, with quite fans, stays around
35-38C. Ensure proper case ventilation, and most importantly ensure the
heatsink is installed properly. And from the sound of it, you may have Q-Fan
enabled, which can cause the CPU fan to stop. Disable Q-Fan in the BIOS to
fix that, hopefully this will bring your temps down somewhat. In any case,
the temps aren't THAT high yet...

cool and quite has nothing to do with fan speed as far as i know. It just
scales the multiplier and lows the cpu clock speed which in turn reduces the
watts it comsumes. Asus has a fan bios setting on some motherboards and as
far as im concerned its useless. I would rather my cpu run cool and last
longer than run red hot.
