I'm thinking of upgrading my Processor (from AMD to P4) and Dual DDR Ram and obviously a new motherboard. Will retain my old Case and 380 watt power supply, CDRom, CD r-w, Hard Disk, Floppy, Sound Card, Modem, and AGP Video Card.
Will I be able to just do a Repair install or will I have to do the whole 9 yards New Install?
Any tricks with the Registry required?
Thanks in advance,
Sonny

At a minimum, expect to do a repair installation. All Windows Updates will
have to be reapplied as well. Backup and save anything you can't afford to
lose.

Repair Installation should be just fine... remember you'll have to reinstall
SP1 and all the other hotfixes and updates. You may wish to burn them to CD
first before you do the upgrade.

Before you go back online if you do not download them before the upgrade and
install them, please remember to use the firewall or you'll be very
susceptable to an immediate Blaster infection.

There is an easier option that does not require a repair install but requires a PCI IDE controller, will save you the time of having
to reapply all the patches and updates.
