Hello,

Could you please tell me what I have to do in Stardownloader to have

I use:

C:\Program Files\AVPersonal\Avgctrl.exe

I would like it to quit afterwards (like parameter /q used with AVG), but
haven't been able to establish that yet.

Thanks Rod,

The problem is that I have no Avgctrl.exe file in my AVPersonal
directory. Is that because I am using the free version of it ?

Strange, I also use the free version, and I just checked, the file is
there.

However, in their forums I read this:

"AVGuard permanently monitors your system and will scan every file written
to your hard disk (this means downloaded file) automatically. It will not
scan inside .ZIP files. If you extract a file from a ZIP archive it will be
scanned, however."

and:

"You can scan individual files in windows explorer by right clicking the
file and selecting "Scan file with AntiVir"."

I just checked it by downloading the eicar test-files with Star Downloader,
and Anitvir PE had no trouble recognizing them as viruses.
So the files are already checked after downloading, and there is no need to
change settings in Star Downloader for this purpose.

Thanks again Rod,

I am going to download and install Antivir once more.
It's good to know that the downloaded files are aurtomatically check.
I know how to right clic and I will check only zip files in the
future.

By the way, where do you find the list of the parameters (like /SE) to
be pass to AVG?

Thanks,

Alison.

=== you are welcome, BTW , if you are using Firefox browser you can
scan downloads with a little extension called " Download Scan" from
....
http://downloadstatusbar.mozdev.org/downscan/ ... after downloading
and installing it and restarting Firefox , click on the options for
this ext. and set it for antivirus location (AVG is - C:\Program
Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgw.exe ) and the arguments (for AVG - /SE
[Path] {notice the space before and after the /SE )

Thanks Mike and Rod,

I tried AVG, and I will keep it for a will.
It seems to be easy to update it.
