question on web searching, can anyone direct me to a newsgroup on advanced

searching technique using search engines and the web, I have looked but am
having trouble finding these. For example, the msn.search group from
microsoft only has a handful of question(about 15) for 2 months.

I am specifically looking for a discussion on techniques other people have
used to find specific info, such as how to tell an engine to only get pages
from the last 5 months etc.

thanks , I know this isn't the right board for this but I didn't have any
luch on my own.

Most search engines have an Advanced mode which allows this.
Where are you trying?

I was just looking for newsgroup where people exchange advanced searching
ideas, not just the search engine rules, but lets say I have a particular
subject and was looking for suggestion s on how to go about the search and
where to look
