still want all the people you converse with to have your new email, its
either one of them who is infected, or once one of your emails gets
forwarded on by one of those people then the source gets it again... and you
start over...
It could be interesting... I guess one way of doing it is to run the two
email addresses in parallel... if you have a small enough circle of contacts
you could advise them in small groups or one at a time.. when the new email
addy starts getting the virus, you know that that you have made contact with
a potential source... maybe... ish... perhaps...
OK, its not exactly scientific, but its possible this may point to the true
culprit...

removed. That computer is now virus free. What worries me is,Wrangler said:
that the virus carrying e-mails are still coming. That was my reason for
asking about the possible time scale and doe's NetSky have a cut off date
like some of the other virus that have been circulating.

I have to admit to once or twice contemplating a mass mail to everyone in my
address book saying that this is a problem, and to get their AV (or "go buy
some dammit!") up to date, and asking them to send that onto all the people
in their address book in an attempt to break the vicious circle of these
things...
The problem is, at that point my supposed "cure" becomes potentially *worse*
than the impact of the disease and a chain mail to boot...
All I would need to do is add "Send this to 15 of your friends and you will
have good luck for seven days..."...
Although I can see your frustration and your desire to see an end to the
constant dribble of malware coming in apparently from the same persons
unknown, there is no simple answer.
At the end of the day many of these viruses have to be endured as they
become background noise and knocked on the head by the AV software on entry
because the chances of eradicating them completely from the Internet are
pretty much zero, and when combined with their random approaches to
distribution it'll be something we have to endure. I would class Blaster,
NetSky, MyDoom, SQL-Slammer (and others) as "noise" today... and that list
is surely going to grow.
