Lokesh Babu

Folks,

My following question is related to dhcp client on Windows XP and not
DNS. But, I could not find any newsgroup for DHCP. So, posting my
question here. Please let me know if there is any other group (DHCP),
where I can post this question.

Coming to my question related to using User Class DHCP option:
As per RFC 3004 (User Class Option for DHCP), client can specify
multiple classes as part of DHCP request. But, as per the documentation
available on Web
(http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/7983/7983.htm), I can
specify only one user class ID using ipconfig command. So, if any of you
are aware, please let me know if I can specify two class IDs using
ipconfig or some other manner.

Thanks in Advance,
Lokesh

Lokesh,

This is a feature that almost no one is using. What IT problem are you
trying to solve. There might be a better way to handle this rather than
implementing the User Class Attributes.

Ryan,

Thanks for the response. I was going through RFC (2136) and found that
client can specify multiple class IDs. As Microsoft (Microsoft
developers) were part of this RFC, I was just curious of how to specify
multiple IDs using Windows clients and not because of immediate need.

Sorry for the mistake in my last response. It is RFC 3004 and not 2136.
2136 is related to dynamic updates.
