Hi,
..
I was wondering:
..
1._ about What happenes when two people messaging out there send data
(files like large pictures) to each other?
1.1_ Does it go through a central server or does it go over the
internet from one machine to the other?
1.2_ Can the text they use in their chats go throuch a central server,
but not the data?
..
2._ if the protocol used for messaging is an open standard or to what
extent this is the case. I see with gaim (the multi-protocol instant
messaging app (gaim.sourceforge.net))
..
thank you

Greetings,

1. Both to all questions.
2. The initial version of the Messenger protocol was made into a RFC but that was last
century.

However, just because Microsoft hasn't official documented it doesn't mean there isn't
documentation.
