I am thinking about buying this printer.
Does anyone know about how many 4x6 photo's it will print with full
tanks?
How are they on fade resistance?
Also, I heard someone mention putting a continuous ink system on it.
What is this?
TIA, mes.
Hold out if you don't have a Best Buy near you, if you do go there and
get an Epson R340 which has a bigger monitor for viewing photos off
the cards, and supposedly fixes some of the issues with the CD/DVD
tray being kicked out. If you buy any of the R series look up 'waste
ink tank modification' , here's a link to one example, the R340 can be
modified the same way.

Do this before you even put the ink in. Also download the SSC service
utility to reset the waste tank counter.
I haven't been keeping track of how much I've used it, though I will
when I start off the new set of tanks. I've done a lot of high
resolution black/white printing and several 8.5 x 11 prints along with
about 20 4 x 6s and have used up quite a bit of ink already. Remember
that the heads are filled with blank liquid and must be 'charged' with
the first set of ink so even though they're not 'starter cartridges',
the first set will not last as long as subsequent ones.
I would stick with OEM cartridges if you want it mostly for photo
printing that you want to keep around for a long time. Using the Epson
Ultra Premium glossy paper makes very beautiful pics, though the
'vibrant' mode makes the images a bit dark, you may have to do some
experimenting before you find settings you like. If you're using it
for high volume business printing and CD printing you could go with a
CIS, though a C88 with CIS would be more economical since you only
have 4 ink tanks to worry about there.
