Just installed Windows 2000 Professional on an older system I had setting
around running Windows 98SE. All my computers are on a LAN.

Can I use Remote Desktop from one of my Windows XP Pro systems to access
this Windows 2000 computer? Right now this doesn't seem to work although I
can browse the 2000 files and folders from another computer.

Note - Remote Desktop does work from the Windows 2000 system to other
computers on the LAN.

Must admit I'm not well acquainted with 2000.

TIA

Hi - this probably isn't the best group for your question (it's for Windows
Update issues). That said, you can't use Win2k Pro as a "host" for Remote
Desktop - only XP Pro and Win2003 Server offer remote desktop hosting (and
you can install Terminal Services in Admin mode on Win2k Server).

You might look into some of the VNC variants for your Win2k box if you want
to connect to its console across the network.
