Question for AIW 9800 owners

I have a AIW 9700 if that counts toward your question. I have a Turtle Beach
Montego II Quadzilla that was great when I used Win 9x but XP does not
support the quad speaker or surround sound. In any event I just bought a
Philips Dynamic Edge that has a good rating especially for a cheap card,
I'll put it in next weekend.

What sound card do you have, and are you happy with that?

Why does that question have anything to do with the AIW or any video card?

....I'm assuming you left out some details, or were just keeping on topic :-p

I have the A7N8X Deluxe and use the onboard sound, it's excellent through my
Cambridge Audio A500 and Mission 701s. I use the MAD player for Winamp for
MP3s and if I were to use an audio CD in my PC (Rather than my Sony CD
Player) for some reason, it would be playing through DAE (no audio cable
required from drive to sound card, and therfore cheap DAC in the cd drive
bypassed).

To remain on topic, I have a 9800 Pro.

I would guess he's recording something, he did say AIW after all.

That's what I would guess at a push, but even if we have guessed that, what
now? We need more details.

I just want to know what sound card the other AIW9800 Pro owners use with
their AIW9800 Pro. When people chose this card, they probably do everything
a little bit including playing video games and video recording.

OK, so you want suggestions on good all-round sound cards?

Gee, lookee here:

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mmc88_Release_Notes.html

Bottom of the page:

"The Creative Lab's Audigy family of sound cards has architectural
differences from earlier SoundBlaster products in order to provide
enhanced audio quality. These changes have an impact on how the ATI
MULTIMEDIA CENTER™ works when an ATI ALL-IN-WONDER™ is used with an
Audigy card. "

"To partially address these issues, Creative has made available a
special version of their drivers, which allows the ATI MULTIMEDIA
CENTER™ to function correctly. These drivers are version 250 (or
later) of the Audigy drivers. Please make sure you are using the
correct drivers. "

Thanks for the reply. I like to buy the Audigy, but I have some problems in
the past with the combination of SBLive, AIW family and Via-chipset-based
motherboard. If enough people are happy with their AIW9800pro and Audigy, it
will make my decision easier.

I don't know it is a secret for other AIW9800pro to share their sound card
preference.
