both a Dvd Burner and CDRW burner (not together but two
seperate drives)? Someone mentioned that it might be why
my Windows is stalling on startup? can anyone clear this
up for me please. thanks

sure you can. as long as your motherboard support having that many drives.
DVD burners will burn CD's also.

There is no reason why you can't have both. Make sure if
they are setup on the same channel that the
master/slave/cs jumpers are set correctly. If you can
boot into safe mode but not normal go into device manager
and disable cd/dvd drives and try to reboot from there.
If all else fails you might have to reinstall XP (upgrade
in place) to get everything to work. Also, I have always
found it a good idea to put my two optical drives on
seperate IDE channels so I can have 'on the fly' copying
without freezing.

Just a note-not all DVD burners will also write to CDs.
See the product documentation. However, I have never seen
one that won't read them.
