Question before I buy

I'm looking to buy Windows Vista within the week for my computer, but I have
a question I need answered before I do. I was wondering if the full retail
package ($400) was capable of installing as a upgrade instead of a clean
install. Right now I am just looking to upgrade my computer, but I would like
the option of installing clean in the future if I ever need to. Thanks in
advance for any help.

Yes, a full retail version of Windows Vista can also perform an upgrade.

Yes, with the full package, you have your choice of a full new install, or
an upgrade install.

You will be back here asking for help because of the hundreds of problems
(actually thousands)
that vista has....

Are you TOTALLY sure you want vista?

1) there was a report from a journalist in this NG last week or so
indicating that the upgrade version will do a clean install - evidently
the checking was disabled.

2) there are a LOT of consultants who will tell you it's best to wait
until vista actually works - personally, I'd plan to wait for SP2, but at
any rate, you're advised to wait at least for SP1 - way too many problems
right now.
