Im looking to either buy one of these or convert an old canon s820 or
canon bjc-6000 into a cd printer. Ive seen the store sample for the
900 and to me it looked faded...but I was wondering what the opinions
are of those who actually own either the 900 or 960. Will they be even
close to what I could get on a glossy label or are they closer to what
I see on regular inkjet paper?

Thanks,

I would say the quality is somewhere in between. The surface of the cd's
don't have a glossy surface. I am very pleased with the quality and the
fact that I don't have to try and get the label on the cd correctly or it
might come off. I think it looks more professional too.

A couple years ago I had to make up a batch of 100 music CDs with
paper labels. Everything went fine until I started getting word back
that the labels were delaminating. Sure enough, flexing the CDs and
repeated handling caused this, and I wound up having to re-do the
whole lot. If you can print directly on the CD/DVD, even if not
perfect, it's a far better solution. The 900 is probably not much
better or worse than the other brands of inkjet CD-compatible
printers, but the more expensive thermal printers are a better choice.
