I have a bunch of .wav files mixed in with my mp3s and when I tried to
use "sort icons by type", it doesn't work. The one thing I suspect
that's wrong is, I chose to have Sonique open all mp3 and .Wav files
and maybe XP thinks they're all "sonique files".
I see all my mp3's and .wav files listed with their file extentions
but the "description" column lists them all as "Sonique" files.
Where do I go to change this so Explorer will truly sort them
correctly.
Still learning my way with XP.
Still like '98 better.

To sort the files with their present association, right click the folder
and select Search. Use the options to include subfolders if necessary
and search for *.WAV or *.MP3. You can open two search windows if you
need to (for example: comparing file names).

Another way to approach this is to unassociate these files from Sonique.
Then associate them with a program that treats these extensions as
separate file types instead of tossing them into a single group type.

To do this: Check the program's menus for options that deal with file
extensions. Repeat with the program you would like to have handle the
file extensions. Or, if you have XP's SP1 installed, you could use
Control Panel> Add/Remove Program> Set Program Access and Defaults.
