Question about Real and Quicktime Alternatives

I was just wondering, can these programs handle streaming and non-streaming
movies as well as the full versions of Realplayer and QT?

Are there any advantages to using either of these alternative programs? Are
they faster? More stable? Etc. Thanks.

The alternative programs have far less bloat, and no spyware.
